For this project I decided i wanted to create an illustrative piece of work. I looked on Pinterest, Tumblr and Designspiration to see artist different styles and approaches to illustration. Below is a moodboard I crated with some of the styles I liked and some of the I found artist through research.
The theme for this project is “complexity” so I wrote down some ideas of what the theme could mean.
– A complex piece of work (loads of detail)
– A complex idea (time travel/parallel universes)
– The ordinary up close (macro photography)
This is a mind map I created with the ideas I came up with around this idea of complexity. I wrote this out very quickly as I wanted to just get everything down I could while I remembered it.

This is the final motion graphic piece for the “Hidden Worlds Festival”. I’m pleased with how my motion graphic piece turned out. I think that audio I picked went really well with my video clips because the clips are bright and peaceful and the audio has this ambient, chill feel to it. The music having beats in it aloud the video to clips to transition nicely into the next clip and creates the feel of the video and audio working together. I am happy with how the mirror effect looks and how you get these interesting abstract shapes out of ordinary buildings creating these secret hidden worlds. I think I made a good safe decision with the text. I didn’t want the text to be confusing as the clips are so abstract. To combat this I made the text just a simple, modern, bold text that stood out from the clips. All together I think my motion graphics piece was thought out and I took my idea and created what I envisioned.
I added all my video files into after effects after I had composed them in premier.
I marked out the beats in the audio so i could place my clips on top of them so the video and audio work together instead of separately.
I was inspired by the work of Danny Yount when creating my motion graphics piece. I took the mirror effect and applied it at different angles on my video clips to create this abstract interesting video.
With the text I kept it big and bold. With the video being so abstract I wanted the text to be the opposite to it.
I put in shapes around the text. These shapes would rotate and move drawings attention to the text. The shapes would also have the mirrored effect on creating abstract interesting shapes that kept moving.
Stills: These are stills from video clips I took for my motion graphics video.
Audio: The audio I picked for the video was “Kerala” by “Bonobo”. The reason I choose this music is because it was relaxing and ambient and fitted with the video clips I had filmed.
